Homework

Your child will begin to bring home books to read to you. This book we may or may not have read at school.

It is important that you take the time to read the book with your child.

After reading, be sure to have your child retell the story in their own

words. Comprehension is a very important reading skill.

Log the book!!

What's Happening in Our Classroom

We started to learn our short e word families. We are also continuing to work with CVC words and segmenting words into individual sounds. This is an important skill for helping learners with writing and reading words! Comprehension is another important skill we are focusing on each week with our big books. Your child is expected to be able to retell a story that is read to them or that they read from memory (without the help of a book). In math we are working with number words. We will begin to focus on money this month as well. In science we are learning about light and shadow. In writing we are beginning to focus on using appropriate punctuation at the end of a sentence and beginning a sentence with a capital letter.
